Chihuahuas typically live 14–17 years, making them one of the longest-lived dog breeds. With proper health testing, nutrition and veterinary care, many live beyond 15 years.

How much does a Chihuahua weigh?

According to the FCI Standard (Group 9, Section 6), the Chihuahua weighs between 1 and 3 kg. At Lookum, we breed strictly within this standard.

Is the Chihuahua good with children?

Chihuahuas are good family pets when treated respectfully. They bond deeply with their humans and do well with children who understand gentle handling. We always discuss family circumstances before recommending a puppy.

What is the difference between smooth-coat and long-coat Chihuahua?

Both coat types follow the same FCI standard for weight and character. The smooth coat requires minimal grooming — a bath once a month. The long coat needs washing every 1–4 weeks with shampoo and conditioner, plus occasional brushing.
