It all started with one dog named Montana.
In 2010, I welcomed my first Chihuahua into my life — and she changed everything. Small, elegant, endlessly devoted, Montana was exactly the companion I hadn’t known I was looking for. But she was lonely during my long hours at work, so I found her a friend. And then another. And somewhere between the cuddles and the dog shows, I fell completely, irreversibly in love with this breed.
What began as a personal passion became a calling. In 2011, I founded Lookum Kennel — driven by a simple dream: to raise Chihuahuas the way I wished every dog could be raised. With intention. With tenderness. With standards that never compromise.
In 2019, at a veterinary conference in Ukraine, I met Andrea — who happened to be one of the speakers. We discovered we shared not just a passion for animals, but the same uncompromising approach to their care. We fell in love, built a family, and together turned Lookum into something far greater than either of us could have created alone.
Today, Lookum Kennel is based between Quattordio, Italy and Menton, France — and every decision we make still comes back to that original dream.
Over the years, we have never stopped raising the bar — for ourselves and for our dogs.
We were among the first kennels to introduce systematic health testing for patellar luxation and eye diseases in Chihuahuas — long before it became common practice. Because for us, beauty without health was never enough.
In 2017, our Chihuahuas were awarded Best Couple among all breeds at the European Dog Show — a moment that crowned years of careful selection and deep dedication to the true standard of the breed.
We are proud to be the first Chihuahua kennel to earn recognition from the prestigious Royal Kennel Club — a distinction that reflects not just our results, but our values.
In 2021, we officially moved our kennel in Quattordio, Italy, opening a new chapter in our story — one we are still writing, every single day.
